Old Fashioned (bare rooted)

R. Sericea Pteracantha is a wild, native Eastern rose that is largely grown as an ornamental plant for its large flat, translucent red young thorns. The flowers are small and white with four to eight petals. It also produces attractive red hips in autumn and winter.

Discovered by Père Jean Marie Delavay (France, circa 1890) and by E.H. Wilson (China, 1900).
Introduced in France by Vilmorin-Andrieux in circa 1890 as 'Rosa sericea L. f. pteracantha Franch.'.
Introduced in United Kingdom by Veitch - Coombe Wood Nursery in circa 1900 as 'Rosa sericea L. f. pteracantha Franch.'.
